This is my second year teaching at DC West. My website was designed to showcase projects I hope to include in the curriculum this year and projects we completed last year. My standard-based teaching style usually builds off an "anticipatory set" aiming to motivate students in generating their own unique and creative ideas. In Elementary Art, students must first learn to imitate some of "the greats." Art history and imitation is used in building self-esteem. Often, as a student begins to imitate they build confidence and are moved to explore self-expression. At this moment, they begin to thrive as a true artist in their expression. With Kindergarten through First Grade, an emphasis is put on increasing fine motor skills. Middle School students will be expected to learn about different forms of art. I will support students when needed, but also encourage them to take artistic risks, which ultimately build confidence in expressing their own artistic ideas. Visit Mrs. Bradley's web site
