Dear DC West Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to the 2024-25 school year at DC West Community Schools! Our caring staff eagerly awaits the beginning of the school year focused on our mission to engage, prepare, and empower all of our students for the future. Our strategic plan guides the focus of continuous growth and improvement efforts in our school district based upon the following objectives:

Expanded Student-Centered Learning Experiences~ To ensure diversified learning experiences prepare and empower students to be engaged through expanded learning opportunities and rigorous curriculum and instruction that accelerate the growth of each student.

Culture and Cohesion~ To create and sustain a district culture that exemplifies and models high expectations for all staff and students while supporting the social, emotional, and mental health well-being of students and staff.

Personnel Effectiveness~ To ensure the district provides educational leadership and highly effective staff to support our students academically, personally, and in their social growth, as well as building and sustaining cohesion and unity among the staff.

Family and Community Partnerships~ Grow and sustain a mutually supportive and trusting partnership with stakeholder groups to benefit the mission and vision of the DC West Community Schools and sustain a positive connection with and among the community at large.

District Resources~ To sustain effective and efficient use of resources focused on continuous improvement, expansion, and support of student learning, safe and effective learning facilities, and highly effective staff to support our students.

This year, we proudly celebrate our exceptional school district with the theme **"Rise Up!"** Since its establishment in 2005, DC West has continually grown and thrived. Our community, parents, students, and staff share an incredible sense of pride in our achievements. We value the unique talents each individual brings, believing that by uplifting one another, we all soar to greater heights. Being a DC West Falcon means being part of something truly special. As we fly high together, we constantly seek new ways to excel and embody our theme to "Rise Up!"

Our back-to-school forms and registration are online for better efficiency. You will be receiving an email from the schools on July 22nd. In this email, you will find important information and directions to go online and complete all of your students' back-to-school forms. If you do not have access to a computer or need any assistance, you may call or come to any of the schools the week of Open Registration, August 5th-9th, 8:00-3:45 pm, and our secretaries and principals will be available to assist you.
The first day of school is Wednesday, August 14th, 8:00-11:45 am. A district calendar is attached to this email. Our Open Houses are on the evening of Monday, August 12th; PK/Elementary 5:30-7:00, 6th Grade Orientation 5:00-5:45, Middle School 6:00-7:30, Freshman Orientation 6:00-6:30 and High School 6:30-8:00.
Together we create an educational atmosphere that our communities are proud of and experiences that will last long after students graduate. I invite you to join us in celebrating the big school opportunities that we provide in a small school setting here at DC West. I’m proud to be a Falcon and look forward to another amazing year!
