Chad Sievers - Valley High School – Class of 2000
Athletic Hall of Fame Induction 2019
In the late 1990s, Chad Sievers helped to set the pace for success in both football and basketball for the Valley Terriers. He earned three varsity letters and was named 1st Team All Nebraska Capital Conference in both his junior and senior campaigns. His football coach George Purnell stated, “Chad was such a gifted athlete. Often times when he was younger, he would get frustrated that the team was not playing at a higher level. However, as he got older he learned to channel that frustration into a fiery leadership style that made all of those around him better. He learned that helping others achieve at a high level was truly his strength. That is how Chad continues to live his life today.”
When asked what his coaches and teammates would say about him as a high school athlete, Chad said, “I’d like to believe they would say I was an extremely hard worker and over-achiever who was always very team-oriented, passionate, and a great leader. Former Valley High School basketball coach Rick Ahrens described Chad with the following words, “It was a privilege to coach Chad Sievers in basketball. He played a large role in one of the most successful basketball runs in Valley High School history. Chad was a tremendous athlete. He was intensely competitive and wanted to win at everything, whether it was a shooting contest, a defensive drill, or sprints. He had great focus and determination. Chad was also a team player who would sacrifice some of his own game to make those around him better. He was a great teammate and leader by example which helped make my job easy.”
After high school, Chad moved on to the University of Nebraska to major in Business Administration and play football. He was a three-year letter winner as a member of the Cornhusker Blackshirt defense. Chad was named 1st Team ESPN Academic All-American and received the Brook Berringer Citizenship Award while at Nebraska. When asked about his most memorable sports moment, Chad stated, “My first game as a Nebraska Cornhusker in 2002 as a sophomore. I ran onto the field three plays into the game after starter Barrett Rudd was injured. I ended up making 8 or 9 tackles and was named defensive player-of-the-game. It was an amazing reward for a lot of hard work and patience.”
Today, Chad is happily married to Jessie Sievers and they have three children; Jaci (14), Sam (9), and Titus (9). He is the owner of Raridon and Associates who represents all of the orthopedic products for Johnson and Johnson in the four-state area including Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, and Missouri. Please welcome CHAD SIEVERS to the DC West Hall of Fame!
